Setting
- Built on an historic landscape, the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park is set in a storied location
- The Chesapeake Marine Railway
and Dry Dock Company was constructed only a
few feet away on Philpot Street. Its character
is preserved in the oldest remaining waterfront
industrial building, the Sugar House, also referred
to as the Coffee House.
- Constructed on the waters edge of Baltimore’s east harbor, visitors can explore the grounds once walked by Frederick Douglass and Isaac Myers while viewing the modern day harbor and its sites
- The Baltimore Waterfront Promenade surrounds the harbor side of the building.
- Park benches provide ample resting places
- A large bronze sculpted head of Frederick Douglass invites visitors of all ages to the site.
